From Blogging to Acting
Last February, I got involved into a film-making activity which was planned and headed by Mica Rodriguez. After attending a Basic Scriptwriting Workshop last year, she was required to write a script and then make a short film out of it. Autism was the subject of the script she made as well as the short film. The story goes between a special but talented elder brother his younger sister who is having a hard time to decide for herself: brother or dream. I was not able to read the full copy of the script for the film but I was able to get the flow of the story and I find it really interesting and heart-pounding.

I was not really included in the casts of this short film but since I was there on the venue to meet Ada Lajara, I was asked to play the role of Uno in replacement of Carl Valenzona who had a prior commitment when that specific scene was shot.. I was from school that time so I was wearing my school uniform while acting on the short movie. T’was okay since Uno is a college student who used to argue with his sister Jam which was played by Ada Lajara. The scene where I appeared was a little bit funny because of what Ada did. Hinampas ako ng dyaryo sa ulo for several takes! LOL. But it’s okay, that’s part of acting.
I was also with Jehzeel Laurente, Edward Arevalo, and Cai Abbass during the scene where I played the role of Uno. I enjoyed acting with those people especially Ada who is an experienced actress already. Kuya Bunso is oh so cute! I even asked him to play on the scene then Ada mocked him of playing barbie dolls instead of toy guns.
Sir Buddy Gancenia, Philippine Wedding video producer and editor was the person behind the camera rolling in every scene. He was also the one in-charge of the movie direction as well as the blocking together with Mica. Aside from him, Josh Liao and his girlfriend Liz Buenaventura also played an important role in the production of this short film. All of them are really talented in this industry.
I really enjoyed acting for this short film Kuya Bunso even though I was just an accidental cast. I was able to help Mica even in just a small way. Kuya Bunso is such a JuanDerPul production! Kudos!
