Everyone who knows the Master Rapper, Francis Magalona turned blue as the news about his death last Friday, March 06, 2009 was spread. I was on my way to a mall from school when I heard about the very sad news on the radio. It was 12:50 p.m. when the news was confirmed, that was 30 minutes ago when Francis M. died at the Medical City in Ortigas. When I heard the news, I was silenced and shocked about it. At first, I thought that the Master Rapper died from Leukemia which he was suffering for 8 months but then I was wrong, he died of multiple organ failure secondary to Severe Sepsis and secondary to Pneumonia.

Francis Magalona is a model. He is a man of honor, a PATRIOT! He made several songs for the youth and for the country. His songs are very inspiring and those songs really show that he is a proud Filipino. One of his greatest hits, “Mga Kababayan Ko” is such a juanderpul and patriotic song. He also made songs to inspire the youth and to inspire the Filipino community.

He even established a clothing line company which is called the FrancisM Clothing Co. (FMCC) or popularly known as the 3 Stars and a Sun. The shirts feature a common design which is the “3 Stars and a Sun” of the Philippine flag. The FMCC products are patronized by several Filipinos inside and outside the country. My uncle in Canada and Qatar was asking me to buy them that 3 Stars and a Sun shirt because they really like the concept of the shirts and they love Francis Magalona as a Filipino Music Icon.

Excerpts from “Mga Kababayan Ko” of Francis Magalona:

Mga kababayan ko
Dapat lang malaman nyo
Bilib ako sa kulay ko
Ako ay pilipino
Kung may itim or may puti
Mayron naman kayumangi
Isipin mo na kaya mong
Abutin ang yung minimithi

Excerpts from my Francis Magalona favorite, “Kaleidoscope World”:

Every color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin’ round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope world

The Filipino people will never forget you, Francis Magalona. You are definitely a legend, though you already departed, your memories will remain in the hearts of all of us whom you have inspired for what you’ve been doing.

Francis Magalona is definitely a JuanDerPul PINOY!
